The SlimP - new single "With The One" following "Winterday"
The new The Slimp single "With the One", released on February 27, 2026, is based on material that has been around for a long time.
The first sketch dates back to 1999, recorded by Mart on a 4-track cassette recorder. The recording found its way to Kristian Bleed in San Diego, singer of Candy Push, who added the first verse.
After that, the song remained unfinished for many years.
Only decades later did this fragment resurface and slowly turned into what is now "With the One". The track reflects this process. It deals with looking forward and looking back, with disappointed expectations, bitterness and personal defeat. The central question "If a promise is forever and tomorrow may never come" runs through the song without offering resolution. A spoken passage, inspired by Anne Clark, underlines the reflective tone.
Musically, the song is carried by two basses in dialogue, completed by some screaming guitars.
Earlier in February, The SlimP released "Winterday", a more restrained and atmospheric counterpart. Where "Winterday" captures a frozen present, "With the One" unfolds over time, marked by distance and deferred completion. Together with "Nothing To Forget" (2025), both singles form a coherent continuation of The SlimP’s recent work, focused on memory, loss and what remains once certainty has faded.

About The SlimP
The SlimP is a dark wave band from Cologne, Germany, founded in 2003. The founding members Elisa Day (vocals, bass), Mart (bass, vocals) and Bernd (guitar) are completed by Julius on drums. Known for their unique use of two bass guitars and a blend of female and male vocals, they create a deep, dark, and atmospheric sound.
Their debut album “Masquerade” was released in 2004, followed by “Some Seconds Later” in 2005, both showing strong influences from early The Cure. In 2008, they re-released both albums in remastered form as “Recall 2003–2005” through the internet label afmusic. Their third studio album, “Wavelands”, was released in 2009 through afmusic and Danse Macabre, showcasing a more mature and compact sound.
Drawing inspiration from bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees, Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub, and Fields of the Nephilim, The SlimP blends dark wave, post-punk, and alternative influences into their own unmistakable sound with gloomy, emotional lyrics.
After nearly 15 years absence from stage, The SlimP is now back. During this break, they continuously wrote new material and rehearsed together and are now slowly returning to live performances, most recently playing an intimate "Garden Concert". More new activities are already on the horizon.
