Melodic Rock meets Blues & Metal: New album "MIND GAMES" by MemoryFX

Previously the sound of MemoryFX could be described as "Melodic Rock meets Blues & Metal", but the new album "MIND GAMES" shows an impressive development of the band and it becomes clear how much they have grown together in the last six years.

In addition to the fundamental groove and the multi-faceted arrangements of their 2014 debut "Returning From Nowhere", the new album brings a lot of depth to the band's sound; even more complex song structures and sometimes very distinctive acoustic sounds.

The opener "Kingdom" is a massive rock song, which even has rap-attitudes and its lyrics tell about the power mania of past and present times. The sound can be described as board-hard and the growls of guest singer Martin Bunk give the chorus an almost brutal expression.

But the variety of the songs also expresses itself in a certain light-heartedness or even irony in songs like "Always Too Late", "Memory Moments" and the attached "What's Luck?”

The title song "Mind Games" and "The Second Life" are very emotional with acoustics that will send shivers down your spine. Despite the sparing instrumentation and not least because of the now firmly integrated feminine vocals of Manuela (Manu) Brandt, the songs know how to develop a very special atmosphere.

But with songs like "Warrior", "Cry for Love", "29 Thousand Miles" and "Hope" the band shows also their talent in writing complex and multilayered pieces. Here the inclined listener can really let himself fall and just enjoy.

Pigeonhole thinking does not stand a chance on this album, although the different styles somehow form a unity in the end and can be best described and summarized with: Melodic Rock.
