Danish artist Knud Odde covers Swans song "Mona Lisa, Mother Earth"

Mona Lisa, a hidden gem from Swans "The Burning World" 1989 album. A different kind of Michael Gira song with its darkly erotic tribute to Da Vinci's mystery woman.

Danish artist Knud Odde covers Swans song "Mona Lisa, Mother Earth"

KNUD ODDE is a well-known Danish artist and songwriter, who used to be a key member of the celebrated Danish postpunk band Sort Sol.

As an artist in his own right, he has released several singles with Danish lyrics in connection to his work as a painter – the sleeve for this release is done by Odde! – but with this cover of the Swans song ‘Mona Lisa, Mother Earth’ he would like to reach out to a wider audience.

Often Odde's own lyrical universe contains several evocative references that seem to draw inspiration, from both symbolist dream universes and the Danish song treasure. With his dark vocals he enriches the songs fullness and depth that harmonize and emphasize the music's intense melancholic energy.

The song is produced and arranged by Nils Lassen (BlackieBlueBird) and recorded and mixed by Flemming Rasmussen (of Metallica fame). The drums are played by Tomas Ortved from Sort Sol.

The song will be released later this year as a 7’ vinyl single on Foghorn Tunes.
