From Serendipity to Symphony: The Story of Eckman & Borelius

From Serendipity to Symphony: The Story of Eckman & Borelius

Welcome! You are warmly welcomed to enjoy the music and the journey. It's perfectly fine to let your mind wander and not pay close attention - just immerse yourself in the experience.

Eckman & Borelius first came together in the spring of 2022, meeting at work. They soon discovered a shared passion for music and decided to collaborate on a Christmas song. That song, released in 2022, was recognized as one of the year's best by Sydsvenskan and Barometern in Sweden. Encouraged by this success, they decided to form a permanent duo, combining piano and vocals.

Their initial compositions were Picking Up The Pieces and The Legacy. The former grew from an idea brought forward by Tobias Borelius, while the latter developed from an instrumental piece by Johan Eckman. Both tracks were recorded entirely in Johan's home studio.

As their creative process evolved, songs began to take shape in Tobias's cold storage space before Johan arranged them and completed production in his home studio. Tobias recorded the vocals at his own place. Once the duo refined their concept and workflow, the project gained momentum. Their most recent recordings include Waking Up Is Easy and Not Your Fault, both completed in October 2023, with Anna Nicole appearing as a guest singer.

Over time, their productions have grown more intricate, incorporating lush soundscapes and occasional guitar accompaniments. Yet, the essence of their music remains rooted in the interplay of vocals and piano, creating melodies that ebb and flow beautifully.

Outside of their collaboration, Johan Eckman creates piano music for quiet moments, children’s music, and Swedish indie pop under the alias Sylvester Wester. Tobias Borelius, meanwhile, lends his vocals to Malmö-based bands Emerald Park and And The Broken.

Listeners are invited to relax and enjoy the music, which reflects their passion and dedication.
